The Orticola Milan’s Flower Show was created for Milan in 1996. Ever since it began, Orticola has continued to be the most important Italian show for national and international specialised nurseries. Not only this, it has also dedicated its proceeds to greening the city for the last 26 years.

Love of greenery, and the desire to ensure healthy growth and life for the creatures that live with us. And, not surprisingly, the theme of the Orticola 2025 Flower Show is “Bio, bio, bio: there is life in the garden”. ‘Bio’ is Greek for life, and it is important to remember that insects, birds, fungi, microorganisms and plants are all part of nature. They are necessary for sustainable and environmentally conscious gardening, which is based on using resources carefully, just as happens in nature. This is also the idea behind ‘One Health’, or ‘Wellness for All’.
Image 2025 … potting soil, pea shoots, stems of Juncus effusus f. spiralis and a small earthworm to take us to the heart of nature, on a symbolic journey into the miraculous cycle of the earth, where tiny shoots remind us of beginnings and welcome all life.

Orticola’s Theme for the 2024 Flower Show
“G” Generation: Young gardeners grow is the theme of Orticola 2024.
Attention to the environment and sustainability, taking care of the planet, learning that each of us is responsible for our own habitat, thinking that we cannot dominate the living and that nature is not contained in enclosures, this is the message of Orticola that stems from the thought of Gilles Clément, one of the most influential landscape architects, who identifies the Earth as our garden that is nothing but “a planetary garden” of which we are all gardeners and to which we all must lend a… hand!
Orticola 2024 addresses this new generation, which we have called Generation G as Young Gardeners, who have also grown up with the Covid experience, who feel part of the environment and not master of it; a generation that knows that Nature is an inescapable necessity.
To this generation we want to speak and give support, presenting a traditional exhibition, but one that more than anything else speaks of nature, of living beings, of plants: organisms that are fundamental to our survival, that likewise know how to communicate with us, even if only by blooming in response to our care: flowers are the stars of the earth, Terrestria sidera flores, as the motto of the Associazione Orticola di Lombardia states.
